ICONS 2018 is an international conference to be held in India, that brings together an international community of researchers from academia, industry and research laboratories to disseminate new developments and advances in underwater surveillance technologies.
Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Kochi, a premier R&D establishment of the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), organized ICONS for the first time in the year 2002. NPOL is a ‘Systems Laboratory’ of DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India engaged in the development of SONAR (Sound NAvigation and Ranging) systems and allied technologies.
The conference theme is outlined in eleven broad topics, encompassing both theory and applications in acoustic and non acoustic technologies for underwater surveillance. Research papers are invited in all (but not limited to) these topics.
ICONS 2018 will be held at Kochi, Kerala, India, from 22-24 February 2018.
As a preamble, on February 22, there will be pre-conference tutorials on emerging and proven technologies, in different areas of sonar and allied technologies. Formal conference proceedings will be during 22 -24 February 2018. There will be plenary lectures, oral presentations, poster sessions, technology exhibition and cultural programmes.
On the sidelines of the conference, visit to tourist attractions around Kochi can be arranged for participants, on request.
